Crystal M. Merlau

Clinton “Clint” Nash was born in Kent, Ohio and graduated from the prestigious Kenyon College with degrees in Political Science, Anthropology, and Sociology. While at Kenyon, he was elected to Phi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honor Society. After college, Clint moved to Akron, Colorado, to work on his aunt and uncle’s cattle ranch. Clint then attended the University of Colorado School of Law, where he graduated early, while working and clerking for two different law firms. Clint lived in Longmont during law school and decided to build his practice here upon graduation.

Clint brings his strong work ethic and a dedication to client service to his practice areas of criminal defense, domestic relations, personal injury/auto accidents, real estate transactions, collections, contract negotiations/drafting/litigation, and business formation/transactions. Clint believes an attorney should truly be a “counselor of law” and prides himself on the strong relationships he has built with his clients.

Mark Herber Born and raised in Oklahoma. In May 1997, Mark graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with honors, earning a B.A. in Criminal Justice. In 1997, Mark was selected by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to participate in the Oklahoma Scholar-Leadership Enrichment Program. In August 1997, Mark began attending law school at the University of Oklahoma. From August 1997 until his graduation in May 2000, the University of Oklahoma College of Law provided Mark with a diverse and enriching education in the law. While attending law school Mark worked under a legal intern's license for Oklahoma's 23rd Judicial District Attorney's Office, learning the fundaments of litigation, appeals, criminal law,
legal writing, legal research, and office professionalism.

In 2000, Mark moved to Colorado, passed the Colorado Bar Examination and began practicing law. To serve his clients, Mark subsequently obtained licenses to practice law in all Texas State Courts and Oklahoma State Courts. Elizabeth A. Raba Born in California and raised in New York, Elizabeth A. Raba graduated from Vassar College in 1983, completing her undergraduate degree in English in three years. After working in New York City in fields as varied as marketing communications and commodity metals research and analysis, she moved to Colorado in 1985. Liz then worked for a software firm that designed and marketed one of the first software packages for legal research. Liz earned her M.A. in English from the University of Northern Colorado in 1989. During her time at UNC, she taught core writing classes to UNC underclassmen and was a member of both Sigma Tau Delta (English honor society) and Kappa Delta Phi (education honor society). Liz also co-founded the English Graduate Student Association and served as the student member of the English Department Ad Hoc Committee.

Liz attended the University of Colorado Law School, graduating in 1995. During her tenure at CU, Liz was a Rothgerber, Appel, Powers & Johnson Teaching Fellow and a Teaching Assistant in the Diversity/Academic Support Program, tutoring other students in Civil Procedure and Torts. Theodore J. Finn Theodore J. Finn "Ted" was raised in Longmont, Colorado, attended Niwot High School locally and then graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Political Science. Ted then attended the Creighton University School of Law. While at Creighton Ted was a member of the Editorial Staff of the Creighton Law Review. Ted earned his Juris Doctorate in 2003 graduating, cum laude.
 
Ted has since been actively practicing in Longmont and throughout northern Colorado.
Ted's practice historically involved defense of large and small employers regarding all types of labor and commercial liability issues. Ted's experience includes counseling businesses regarding wage and hour issues, handbook formation and immigration. Ted has even been retained by other attorney's to provide legal advice and counseling regarding employment matters. Ted's defense practice also included the defense of individuals and corporations regarding liability relating to personal injury claims. With his experience, Ted has defended numerous individuals and mid-size corporate defendants.

Crystal Merlau Born and raised in a family of attorneys, Crystal Merlau has been immersed in the legal world since she was a child. Crystal received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University, distinguishing herself as a member
of the Golden Key National Honor Society. She found similar success in law school
at the Indiana University School of Law, receiving Dean’s Honors and a merit-based scholarship. Her law school achievements included serving as a Program Group Advisor to first year law students, expanding her knowledge of international intellectual property law with a semester in Florence, Italy, and participating in the Sherman Minton Moot Court competition. While in law school, Crystal supplemented her education by working as a law clerk in both the public and private sectors: as part
of the Consumer Protection Division of the Indiana Attorney General’s Office, she investigated consumer complaints against nursing homes, and while clerking for two private law firms, she assisted attorneys in all aspects of civil litigation, with an emphasis on medical malpractice cases. Despite the rigors of her education and work schedule, Crystal always made time for community service, from designing computer programs
for the Division of Family and Children to officiating at school and club sports events
for preschoolers through high school students.

Attracted to the natural beauty and recreation opportunities in Colorado, Crystal moved here in 2003. As a senior associate, Crystal distinguished herself as a dedicated lawyer and a quick study. She soon developed a specialty in real estate matters, from construction litigation to contract review to homeowner’s association issues, and authored several publications regarding real estate, construction and litigation for the National Business Institute, which are now used by the Colorado Bar Association to educate other lawyers. She also expanded her expertise in personal injury cases, as well as gaining experience in criminal matters, family law, and transactional work.

At Herber & Nash, P.C., Crystal continues to provide a range of legal services for our clients, with her hallmark efficiency and attention to detail. When away from the office, Crystal takes advantage of our Colorado location by snowboarding, skydiving, and horseback riding.

Ted's practice is currently grounded in family/divorce law and personal injury prosecution. Ted understands these cases are some of the most important and difficult cases we handle. Ted's experience in the intricacies of litigation is matched by his understanding of the unavoidable emotional component of these cases. Ted's goal is to ensure his clients have a clear understanding of the law, their options, and the likely results of the decisions they make. Ted personally handles all aspects of litigation including initial investigation, evaluation, motions, discovery, mediation and trial.
 
A life-time Longmont resident, Ted is actively involved with numerous civic organizations and is dedicated to preserving the atmosphere of community he enjoyed while being raised in Colorado.

he lives. He is a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1055, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, having previously served as President and Trustee for the Odd Fellows. During the past six years, Clint has spearheaded or worked for ten charity events, raising over $100,000 for local charities such as Mountain States Children Home, Creative Years Learning Center, St. Vrain Valley Safe Shelter and a Women’s Work. Clint’s focus on the community was recently recognized by the Longmont Times-Call, which named him one of the “Longmont 100.”

Mark has favorably asserted claims against local, state, and U.S. government entities under such statutes as the Federal Tort Claims Act and Colorado's Governmental Immunity Act. On behalf of his clients, he assisted the Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission in formulating analytical requirements for the detection and source determination of oil & gas pollution into Colorado aquifers and domestic water wells.
He has also taught seminars in Products Liability.

Mark is licensed to practice law in all Colorado State Courts, the United States Court for the District of Colorado, United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado, all Oklahoma State Courts and all Texas State Courts. Mark is a member in the Boulder County, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas Bar Associations.

Professor Carol Glowinsky (now the Hon. Carol Glowinsky of the Boulder District Court), working on the seminal Clark/Glowinsky Domestic Relations casebook. In addition to her academic interests during law school, Liz served as President of the Student Trial Lawyers Association, was the coordinator of the 1994 Women in the Law Day, and was a semi-finalist in the Rothgerber Moot Court competition. Liz is a member of the Order of the Coif, an honor reserved for those who graduate in the top 10% of their law school classes. Other honors include the Legal Aid Award and Dean’s List.

After graduation, Liz clerked for the Hon. Morris W. Sandstead, Jr. of the Boulder District Court during his rotation in the civil docket. Her duties included researching and drafting the court’s opinions and serving as bailiff during all court proceedings.
She then built a thriving family law practice, becoming a partner in a firm with offices in Longmont and Greeley, and serving clients in a four-county area.

After several years of intense litigation work, Liz took some time off from the practice of law to spend more time with her young children. In returning to part-time practice, Liz now concentrates primarily on her favorite parts of legal work: research and writing. She especially enjoys the opportunity to keep her hand in litigation by working with the other lawyers of Herber & Nash, P.C.

Liz is married with two children and spends considerable time volunteering in the community, mostly with the Boulder Valley School District and the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. She is also an accomplished art quilter whose work has been shown at the Fremont Center for the Arts in Canon City, Colorado, and the Primedia Gallery in Golden, Colorado.
